This mama-to-be was a lot of fun. She does have other children, but this was the first time she thought about maternity photos. And she was up for anything! Love that! This maternity session turned into a big sister session! Don't worry, we got plenty of just mom, but it was important to mom to get a shot with big sister, and soon-to-be little sister. I want to apologize for being out of contact for the past few days. My husband is a firefighter, and was injured at work. No burns this time, but he had a complete rupture of his Achilles tendon. Basically it snapped and rolled up into his leg. OUCH! So, after surgery, he is back home as of yesterday. It will be a very long recovery time, but he is tough, he can handle it! I just hope he doesn't drive me crazy in the process! LOL!

Now, he is settled, I can get back to work. If you have e-mailed me in the past few days, I will be getting back with you today. Thanks for your patience!

Sweet little travelers

Another wonderful family makes time in their vacation to see me for photographs! I have to say, I am always very honored when a family wants me to photograph them while on vacation. They are taking time away from the parks or beach, to have some wonderful memories captured, and they want ME to do it! I love it!

Well, most of the session was spent on their two sweet little kids. The little girl was so funny, she had me laughing! Now, if we are at the gardens and we see some flowers, I will point to them for the little ones to go up to. They love to sniff the flowers, and they just look so sweet doing it! Well, this little one gave me a first. When I asked her what the flowers smelt like, she would name off various VEGETABLES! Yes, a three year old who knows what zucchini smells like! LOL! Her little brother was a cutie pie. Very patient with us for a nice long time. And the EYES on this little guy! Amazing!

Anyway, thank you for including me on your vacation. I enjoyed meeting your family! Here are a couple of sneak peeks for you, and I will let you know when the rest are ready for you!

Gorgeous mama-to-be

All pregnant women are beautiful, really they are. Well, this one takes the cake! It would be easy to hate her because she looked so beautiful, however, she is fun and sweet on top of it. You just have to love her!

We had a very good time at our session in her beautiful home. The time flew for me, but I made her work pretty hard, so she probably took a nap after I left! It is hard work being a model, you know!

Anyway, I know she is very anxious for her sneak peeks, so here you go!

Something a little different

I have always loved photos of flowers. You know the ones that are taken super close up? Well, I had tried to do it with the lenses that I had, but they just weren't cutting it. So, I rented one! It was a lot of fun, and I took SO many different flower photos during the week. I am happy with how they turned out too! Well, the ones that I have gotten a chance to look at. Truth be told, I still have a few hundred more to go through! As much as I liked doing the flowers, I don't think I am going to "quit my day job" yet! LOL!

But here are a few that I have had a chance to get off the computer!

Urban session

Yes, those kids DO look familiar. They are mine! Photographer's kids CAN be the toughest to photograph, because they always have a camera in their faces. However, not my little one (my big guy does pretty much hate photographs!). He plays up for the camera and we have a great time. He thinks he is a model!

So, when my kids are trying to earn money, they offer up sessions! They are both saving up for some new things, and instead of pulling weeds or doing extra household chores, they came up with a proposition. They would do a session at the location of my choice, and would cooperate for as long as a "real" session lasts. For a price!

The timing was great, because I had been wanting to try an "urban" location downtown. I had only done it once, and it wasn't with kids, so this would work out just fine. Turned out to be a pretty good session with lots to choose from. Here are a few of my favorites:

Engaged!

I really enjoy engagement sessions. I don't get them very often, because I don't shoot weddings, however, it is always a nice change of pace when I do get the call for one. For the most part, I don't have to chase anyone around! Sometimes the grooms-to-be need to be corralled, but that is rare! LOL!

This session was very nice for three major reasons:
1. the guy is my husband's friend and co-worker
2. the couple has been together forever and they are such a nice couple
3. I got to use a some-what hidden location that I found on a scouting mission one day (besides that day, this was the first session I have shot there). It is SO beautiful there!

Happy Anniversary!

What a better way to celebrate your anniversary than with your grown children and their families?! This lucky couple's children wanted to do something special for their milestone anniversary while every one was in town. So, they surprised them with a big family photo session. Isn't that sweet?!

This family was so fun and easy going, we *could* have been done a lot sooner than we were, but I was having too much fun with them, so I dragged it out longer. LOL!

When I first started looking at the shots from the session, I realized that you all are going to have a very hard time ahead of you. There are so many great shots! Anyway, I won't tease you any more, here is your sneak peek! I will let you know when the rest are ready for you to see.

Little sweetie, and a surprise!

I was so happy that we were finally able to do this little sweetheart's session. We have had to reschedule a few times, due to her not feeling well. So, I was so thrilled to see her nice and healthy for our session! She is such a serious little girl, but we managed to pull quite a few smiles out of her (don't worry mom, I PROMISE there are smilie ones for you!). I was just in love with her gorgeous eyes! She has such blue eyes, with the LONGEST blonde eyelashes ever (can't really appreciate how long the lashes are from this shot, but there are others I have that show them off!)!

After the session was over, we were walking back to the car, and what do we see? A baby gator! He was standing really still by the water, I just had to grab a quick shot. As many times as I have been to that location, I have never seen one there. Fish, ducks, turtles, yes. But never a little gator!

Anyway, I was watching Jay Leno last night with the husband. He was reading some responses about love questions from kids in 5th and 6th grades. Made me really laugh, probably because I have a son in that age range. So, today I asked him a question that they asked on the show to hear what his response was.

Would it be better to be single or married? Why?
"It would be better to be married so I don't have to be doing all the work. And so I can kiss gorgeous lips whenever I want!"

Company headshots?

Well, that isn't something I have been asked to do before! I have done modeling headshots and senior headshots, so I was confidant that it wouldn't be much different. I was right! I had the privilege to photograph the CEO and CFO of the company For The Fit (they sell shorter men's clothing). I have to say, it was nice to take a break and not chase little ones around. They actually stayed put for me and didn't have me bribe them to smile! LOL! Since it went so well, I have decided to offer this as a regular thing now. So, if you need headshots, I will come to you! Doesn't get much easier than that!

A very special session

Not that they aren't ALL special! But this one was for my extended family. My husband's brother lives across the country, and unfortunately, we don't see him very often. Well, as soon as he booked his ticket, my mother-in-law booked a session! She really wanted some photos with him and his girlfriend in them. (Because you KNOW she has plenty of us and the boys! LOL!). As much as she didn't want to be IN the actual photos, she was a great sport (because you know I made her be in there!) and I am so happy to have these now too! I know she is anxiously awaiting her sneak peek (she insisted this be treated just as a REAL session!), so here you go! Give me a couple of days, and you will have the rest of them!

Sweet Norwegian family

Yes, as actually FROM Norway! Now, I have had families hold sessions with me while on vacation before, but never from this far away! They were visiting family, and the family here was the ones who suggested a session. I felt so honored! We had such a great time! I was a little worried about making the little ones happy, because they didn't speak English. However, apparently, I can make kids laugh in any language. Goofy faces and acting weird, seem to be universal! I have so many favorites as I am going thru these photos, however, this particular shot made me literally smile when it popped on my screen. So, that is the one I will share as the sneak peek!

How does mini sessions for your little sweetheart sound? These will be very short little mini sessions, resulting in 4 edited proofs. And they will include 25 small photo cards (perfect for the valentines day card exchanges at school, or to mail off to relatives!) and (2) 5x7s of your choice. Your child's cards would really stand out!

For this special, there are limited spaces available, so book up quickly! You don't want to miss this. For the mini session, 25 small photo cards, and (2) 5x7s, the cost will only be $75! Payment in advance is what guarantees your spot for this "sweetheart special". *The $75 is per child. If you wanted sibling photos instead, than it would be only group shots, no individual (for the $75). If you want individuals, then you would book 2 (or more) spots.*

By the way, I think these would work out great for the teens and couples as well! One spot is all that is needed if you are doing a group shot. Have your photo taken with your boyfriend, fiance' or husband!

Photogenic Senior!

Oh, I know I have said this before, but I really love photographing seniors! This is my first year photographing them, and at first, honestly I was a little afraid of them. But after that first one, I realized how much I enjoy them. They WANT to be photographed, they WANT to look great, and they let me shoot for as long as I want! If any 2008 Seniors haven't gotten their "fun" senior photos done yet, and are interested, give me a call!

This beautiful senior SO wanted to be there and be photographed. And as an added bonus, she was extremely photogenic! If the sun hadn't set, we probably would still be out there. It was very difficult to pick favorites for the sneak peek. So, I randomly chose! Too many favorites (I know, I am totally teasing you now!), I just couldn't pick!

Future firefighter?!

Now, most of you know that I have a very special place in my heart for firemen. My husband is one, so of course I love them! I have been dying to do some newborn shots with a firefighter, but the situation hasn't come up yet. Until now! Now this sweet little angel's parents are not firefighters, however his godfather is! So, I finally got to play a little with some gear!

This is the little guy who I had the pleasure to photograph coming into the world. He is changing every single day, but he is still just as cute as can be! I always tell parents that it is best to photograph the newborns in the first two weeks of life. The reason for this is, they are still pretty sleepy, newborn acne hasn't really set in yet, they are quite flexible so they just mold into the wonderful "squishy" poses! Well, this little guy was my youngest! FOUR days old!

His parents requested certain poses for their sneak peeks, so here you go! (They wanted to make sure there was a family shot, so they could show the blog off to friends and family before the announcements go out!).

First of all, I would like to wish everyone a very happy and healthy holiday season! My family was all together again, and it was wonderful. It is all over too quickly though. Happens every year! My boys are already starting to talk about NEXT Christmas. Give me strength!

Now onto a sneak peek. I was "technically" on vacation, but I just couldn't say no. This wonderful mom was having ALL 5 of her kids, and 2 grandkids, all in town at the same time, and that hasn't happened in a long time. They weren't going to be in town very long, so how could I say no to that?! I couldn't. They were a very happy bunch, and that is always fun to photograph. Kinda tricky with that many people, but I am finding that we got some great shots (yes, I DID get started on the proofing! I couldn't wait either!). Here is one fun sneak peek for you! I had the honor and privilege to photograph another birth. This sweet little one came a few weeks early, but was beautiful and healthy as can be! I guess he just wanted to be here before Christmas! It was a loooooong couple of days (for me, so you can imagine how long it was for momma!). But the end result is what was important. And the end result was a new perfect little baby.

Another maternity shot

I swear, sometimes I just get a picture in my head, and I just can't get it out until someone does it for me! This was the case for this maternity session. I really wanted to get a silhouette in the sunset. I ran into a little trouble executing it because of the tree line on the other side of her lake, but here is one that I think turned out beautifully! Hope you think so too, mama!

Gorgeous momma to be!

Oh, I had some fun on this session. This momma to be was very willing to do whatever I wanted. (I LOVE that!). I had in my mind, a shot in a heavily treed area nearby. She didn't look at me strangly at all! Just hopped her pregnant little self in the outfit that I had in mind, and drove over to the trees with me. I was so excited to see how these turned out, I came straight home, picked up take out for the kids on the way, so I could hop right on the computer to see the results! Your teaser photo is one that I just loved. You look so beautiful!

I think the ones from the trees will be my favorites from the session! But, I am going to get back to work now and see what other favs pop out at me.

Holiday deadlines

First of all, THANK YOU for a wonderful holiday season! I really enjoyed everyone this year. You all have been awesome to work with! Now that all of the sessions are completed, I just wanted to give a little reminder of the cut-off dates to order prints and purses to get them back by Christmas.

-Any purse orders must be ordered and paid on or before FRIDAY DECEMBER 7th (this date has been pushed back a couple of days from the vendor. YIPEE!).

-Any print orders must be ordered and paid on or before SUNDAY DECEMBER 9th.

This will insure that I can get them back from the lab, and delivered to you before the holidays. Any orders made AFTER these dates may or may not make it back before Christmas. They will not be guaranteed!

I look forward to working with all of you again in 2008!

Two sweet sisters!

These too beauties were so much fun. The older sister didn't seem to mind the camera at all. Sure, she was a little shy at first, but then was posing it all up for the camera by the end! The younger sister wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. I told her parents that it is quite normal for little ones between 1 and 2 to NOT want to sit still. I mean, come on! They have been sitting their whole lives, and now they can walk! So, most of our session for her was me chasing her around (which she loved!).

Rest assured mom and dad, we DID get some great together shots of them. But I am going to save those for your gallery! I am going to just leave you with a little tease here of an individual one of each of them.

For those who follow my blog, you may remember him from a couple of months back. His parents wanted to get his one year photos taken, but were afraid that he would lose some of his "rolls", so we did a session a few months ago to document his rolls before they disappeared!

I just got back from a nice long weekend away with my family. We made a trip back to Tallahassee with some college friends. It was so great to be back there, even though SO much has changed! I don't know if I could even find my way around there anymore!

Anyway, the boys got to go to a game (Nicky's first), and they just loved it! I swear there is definately some of my husband's sports fanatic blood running thru their veins, because I had to do a double take when I heard my oldest screaming at the game. So much like my husband, it was scary! And then yesterday, we went around to take photos around campus (what would a trip away be without photos?!). Here were just a few that I liked!

Sunrise at the beach!

It sure is early, but I LOVE doing sunrise sessions at the beach. Sure, we have to wake up VERY early, but when we get a beautiful sunrise, it is so worth it!

This sweet family didn't look tired at all (I know I looked tired!). They were just so happy to be at the beach! Their aunt came with us to help with the little ones. And let me tell you, she had ME laughing! *I can't wait for you to see the photo of her that I took without her looking! I won't post it on the blog, but it will be in your gallery.*

Anyway, I *just* pulled your session off the memory card, and this one jumped out at me. I just adore this one of all of you! There are many more wonderful ones, and I will get your gallery up and ready for you as soon as possible. Hopefully this little teaser helps!

Gorgeous blue eyed girl returns!

I can not believe it has already been 6 months since I have seen this beauty! For those who follow my blog, you may remember me talking about this beautiful girl with the BLUE-IST eyes I have ever seen. She can just stop you in your tracks!

So, now the little blue eyed girl is one year old! She is walking all over the place, and really made me work for it this time! Once they start walking, they seem to forget about Miss Jeannette. Completely normal, mom! And just wait until the 18 month ones. They can RUN, so they are even more work! But, they are still so adorable, and I love capturing them in this stage, and every stage of their life.

I had a great time with your family (again!), and I can't wait to work on her photos. She brings a smile to my face! But to tide you over, here are a couple of sneak peeks for you!

I love seeing kids grow up

I have officially been in business over a year now, so I am just tickled when time goes by, and I am called to photograph a family again. This week, I was lucky enough to photograph a brother/sister team that I photographed about this time last year. I loved them last year, and I loved them even more this year! The little boy, was pretty much the same. Spunky little guy, just taller! But I noticed a huge change in the little girl. She doesn't look like a little girl anymore! She looks so grown up! She was really cracking me up, because she was totally into having her photos taken. (I LOVE it when they WANT to be there!). She had looked all over my website, and was pulling ideas from all of the galleries. Such a hoot! I totally have a storyboard idea for her, but she is going to have to wait until the proofs are all ready!

Something different!

Most of who I shoot, are little kids. And they are a blast! I enjoy chasing them around and playing with them. However, every once in a while it is a treat to photograph an adult! Something different for me. Someone who actually sits still and takes direction! Well, I was lucky enough to have this rare opportunity this week. I photographed a wonderful man who was in need of some new photos and headshots. I had a great time meeting you!

Sweet little southern girl!

This family was on vacation, and wanted some new family photographs. Well, this sweet little angelic looking girly-girl, turned out to be not so girly-girl! She was on a hunt for rolly-pollies (bugs of some kind!) and lizards the entire time. She was cracking me up! And her voice! I could listen to it all day. Such a sweet little voice with an adorable southern accent. Just adorable!

Well, despite being hot (REALLY hot), we made the best of things. We (well, not ME, although I would have liked to!) went into the fountain to cool off a little bit, we blew bubbles, and then ended the session with a candy necklace (who doesn't love those?!). Great session, great time!

Purse pics!

OK, I have learned that I am not the best at product photography! I guess when something isn't moving, for some reason that is more difficult for me to photograph! Anyway, this will give you a little idea about what they look like. There are many different styles and sizes, but these were the first three that I ordered for samples.

If you are interested in purchasing a purse from a previous session (or if you have your eye on one for an upcoming session!), drop me a line and let me know! I am working out the pricing details now, and will have them in plenty of time for ordering. Also, just a note, do not procrastinate if you want these in time for Christmas. It takes an average of 3 weeks from when I send into the lab, until I have it in my hands. I assume that the closer we get to Christmas, that time might be a little longer.

Oh, I am so excited! My purse samples came in, and they are beautiful! So, the good news is that they will DEFINATELY be a part of my product line. Bad news is, I have to post and run today, so I can't post any photos of my beautiful new bags. I will do my best to take some photos of them tomorrow.

MORE good news, is I will be offering these purses (any of the sizes) at a discount until the end of year! I will have the sizes, prices, and photos as soon as possible. These will make WONDERFUL gifts for the women in your life (or yourself!). Keep them in mind for future session. Or if you have already had your session, and want a purse made from that session, that would be fine. *Disclaimer* I can not, however, have the purses made from any personal snapshots that you have. I can only have them processed at my lab if I took the photo. *End of disclaimer!*

Big family session!

How exciting that their entire family was down, and was able to get family photos taken! The parents had been wanting this for some time, and everything finally worked out. Everything except the weather, that is! Perfectly fine until I pull into the parking lot. Then it started raining. And raining. And raining. We could not reschedule, as everyone was going back home. So we just made the best of it! We had to do some inside in the hotel, but finally towards the end, we could get outside for the ones that we had originally planned on. I think we got some great ones, and I can't wait to get through all of them for you! But to tide you over for a little bit, here is your sneak peek!

Not one, not two, but THREE beautiful little girls! How lucky can I get? Now, when you have three little ones, chances are someone isn't going to want to be there! This time it was the baby. She really wanted to hold tight onto mommy! BUT, by the end, I got her to come around. We all had such a fun "girl day" together! Such great kids!

These little cuties were a bundle of energy, even first thing in the morning! These adorable cousins hadn't seen each other in a while, so they just wanted to play. I was able to snag some great shots of them! The little one, well she was just a great little model. She had NO problem with me taking her photos, and flashing me her toothless grin! Just a doll!

New offering!

I am so excited about the product I am about to introduce as part of my line. *Just in time for holidays!* Photo purses! I have heard so many good things about this company, and I finally just decided to order some samples and start offering them as well. Now, I haven't gotten my samples in yet, but they should be here this week. If they are as good as I think they will be (they DO have to be a very good quality, otherwise, I will nix the idea all together), then they will be available for purchase ASAP! If you have already had a session in the past with me, and want to order one from a previous session, that won't be a problem either. Don't you think that would be a great gift for your wife, or your mom (or yourself!)? I will post as soon as they come in with more details about them.

Lucky, because she was born into the most gorgeous, photogenic family ever! This little angel was the same one that I was lucky enough to see born two weeks ago. Whew! It was so tedious getting the new website ready and up and running. But I think it was worth it! Take a look when you get a chance!

Now, it is time to get back into what I REALLY love. PHOTOGRAPHY (instead of web design work!). So back to work for me! A little side note, for those who had galleries up on the old site, I have also switched proofing sites as well. Gorgeous family on the beach

Oooh, did I luck out on this session! This family was so nice, and funny, and gorgeous! This family was down in FL for a vacation for a few days, and mom really had her heart set on family shots on the beach. Now, I do family sessions on the beach, just not very often. And I love shooting someplace different! And since their little guy had NEVER seen the ocean, this location was PERFECT!

I kept my fingers crossed all day that it wouldn't rain us out. Because you know the weather here is so weird, it could be a downpour in the city, but beautiful skies on the beach. Driving out to the beach, I think I passed thru three different storms. THANKFULLY, it was decent on the beach. Cloudy and close to sunset, but not raining! WHEW!

The family *should* be home now, and I promised them a sneak peek for the day they got home, so here it is! Thank you so much for a wonderful session at the beach. Hopefully we can make it an annual thing!

Sorry I have been MIA!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been spending most of my free time working on a new (and prettier!) website. These things shouldn't be so complicated, but they always are! I will definately post an announcement when it is done and ready to browse, I promise!

Another reason I haven't posted any recent sessions, is that I had kept my calendar pretty open around now. Know why? Because I had the honor to photograph a birth (and you know how unpredictable THOSE schedules can be!). It was the most amazing experience! No, I wasn't photographing the actual, coming into the world shots below the sheets. I was photographing the entire experience for them. I was there for labor, delivery, and some post-pardom shots with visitors. I was there to capture the emotion of the day. AMAZING. I would definately be interested in doing this again. So, if you are interested, or know someone who would be interested in having me there for the day, e-mail me, and we'll talk!

About this birth, the mom was so amazing. Half of the time I was there, she didn't really even look like labor was affecting her at all! And, she did this all without an epidural! That in itself was amazing! But after a relatively quick labor and quick delivery, she held a gorgeous baby girl in her arms. She felt wonderful, and looked beautiful!

THANK YOU so much for letting me be a part of your day. It was a true honor to be there! And I will leave you with a little shot from the hospital (I have at least a million more to go thru!). Does this mom look like she just finished labor unmedicated? I think not! She is stunning!

New lens, new location!

I really love finding new locations to shoot at. Gives my clients PLENTY of options for their sessions! This little park was recommended to me, so when my new lens came in (the same one that I had rented and LOVED a few weeks ago!) it was the perfect time to go try them both out.

My two no-so-willing models (aka my boys!), actually loved the location and didn't complain too much about the session. That was a shocker! And I got a couple of new favorites of them too! Here are a few from yesterday!

The holidays are just around the corner!

I know, that is painful to hear! But, it is the truth! As soon as school goes back in session, then before you know it, it is here! I have already been booking holiday sessions, but wanted to put the word out there about my 2007 holiday deadlines.

Keeping in mind, that all sessions are a process and take time (1 week after your session until you get your proofs, and 2 weeks to receive your photos after you place your order), I thought it may be helpful to know where the cut-off dates are. To have your photos in before December 21 (REALLY pushing it!):
Last session will take place on: November 30
Last date to place and pay for your order: December 7

If you are wanting to have a session scheduled to have back before the holidays, call or e-mail soon for your date! September still has a few openings, October is booked, and November has a couple slots left. Don't miss out!

I am also REALLY excited about the new holiday cards being offered this year. They are GORGEOUS! (A couple of early birds have already placed their orders for them!) Oh, how I love big 'ol chunky babies! Probably because it reminds me when my little "chunky monkeys" were little. I loved photographing this *little* cutie. He is just so happy (even though he has a little toofer breaking thru!) and fun. He is making me smile while proofing his photos! I was lucky enough to photograph him as a newborn, and now 8 months later, he sure has filled out!

I was so thrilled to get the call to do this mama's maternity photos. I shot them last fall as a family, and they were so fabulous! So, I knew that we would have fun and get some beautiful shots of this beautiful family. We did a nice mixture of just mama and mama with her family. And then a nice mixture of mama fully clothed, and mama "artsy" and wrapped! She is so easy to work with! Here are a couple sneak peeks from their session. Yes, it is back to school time!

But, that isn't what this post is about. I have already had some inquiries about holiday sessions and holiday cards. It *may* seem a bit early to be thinking about it, but I assure you it isn't! Remember, it takes time to have the session, proof the session, and get the prints back. I haven't quite decided on my holiday deadlines yet, but it will definately be in November some time! So, if you are wanting photographs to give for the holidays, start planning now, and call to book your appointment! Appointment times go pretty quickly the closer we get to the holidays!

Now, onto something fun! Related, but fun! I have found a fabulous designer for the holiday cards this year. I will be adding them to my site in the next few days, but as a sneak peek, I wanted to share them here first. (I know these are small, you will be able to see them larger on the site, once I get them all uploaded). This year, there will be an option to have the cards printed on a flat card OR on a folded card. I am so excited about them! They are so beautiful and classy! Four gorgeous girls!

Coming from a family of three girls, I felt right at home with this family. They were in town on vacation, and I was so excited to get the chance to photograph them. They were beautiful, sweet, and a lot of fun. And my favorite thing, they WANTED to have their photos taken. I always love that! Most of their shots were individuals, but I did manage to get a couple of them all together that I loved.

This one made me laugh, because the little one tried to get away. They scooped her up and kept her in the shot!

New location!

I *love* finding new locations to shoot at. And I have a special model that I call upon when I have a new place to try out. I don't want to book sessions at new locations, if possible, until I know that they will be great! My "model" is wonderful to work with, and very photogenic!

There are lots more, but I just pulled a couple of my favorites off. And to my special model, I will have the rest of them proofed by the end of the weekend!

Now, where is the location I found? Well, you will have to book to find out exactly! Just kidding. We did half of the session at Rollins College in Winter Park. There are some beautiful spots on that campus! And the rest was at a little hidden away park near Thorton Park. (I hope I can find my way back to it!). Stinker newborn!

This gorgeous little one gave me a run for my money! Mom told me that he sleeps ALL day every day (not so much at night!). Well, this day, he decided to switch things up a bit! No matter how hard we tried, he was going to stay awake! (Hopefully, that meant that he let everyone sleep that night!) He was also a little stinker (literally), who just about set the record for most poopies in one session!

Even though he tried to be a little stinker, he couldn't help but to be gorgeous. Awake or asleep, who cares when you get to have this beautiful baby to photograph!

It was my pleasure to photograph another beautiful senior. I have to say, I have been getting the sweetest, most beautiful senior girls this year! She is a dancer and did whatever crazy thing I asked her to. Even leaping on the edge of a fountain! I had a great time with her, and the photos are turning out beautifully.

TRASH the dress!

There is a hot new trend among brides right now. After the wedding is over, they are arranging a more "artsy" type of bridal session. One where they aren't concerned about ruining their dresses. Kind of sending the dress out in style! Well, since I don't shoot weddings, I really wouldn't be getting many "trash the dress" session requests. However, when I got a request for one, I jumped all over it! I thought it would be so much fun, and so beautiful, and I was right!

This couple was married a year ago, and they are one of my favorite couples. So carefree, so open to anything I want to try! So, we headed to the beach to try to catch sunrise. Didn't get the sunrise we were hoping for, but that didn't stop us from having a terrific session. Probably the best part of the session was the reactions from other beach go-ers. Some just kept walking back and forth past us. Others came up to me and HAD to know what we were doing. Some of the comments we received (from different people) were:

"Why EXACTLY is she in the ocean in her wedding dress? Is today her wedding?"
"She does realize she will be ruining that dress, doesn't she?!"
"Ron Jon is having a sale on swimsuits right now if she forgot hers. She doesn't have to wear her dress in the ocean you know!"
"NOW I have seen everything. Swimming in your wedding dress?!"

We got a big kick out of them!

How lucky am I?! I was lucky enough to be the photographer for 5 handsome firemen! Actually, they are all from the same family, and were in town celebrating one being hired on to Orlando. The little sweetheart that I photographed the other day is a pretty special one. The first time I photographed her, she wasn't even born yet. Then I photographed her again when she was 2 weeks old. I can't believe a year has flown by! She is such an active little girl, who just loved chasing the squirrels in the park. It was so nice to photograph her again!

I don't get the opportunity to shoot maternity as much as I would like to. Mommas love to have photos of their babies, just not of themselves! I was thrilled to shoot this momma-to-be. She was so happy and comfortable! I usually like to wait until they are about a month before their due date, but she assured me that she is plenty big at 32 weeks. She was right!

Sleepiest newborn

I have been waiting for the time when I would have a sleepy newborn, and it finally came! This little guy was SO easy to photograph, because he stayed asleep no matter how I moved him around! I was in heaven! And I wasn't sure how his big brother would do in pictures with him, but he was amazing as well. You could just see how much he loved his little baby brother, and wanted photos with him. An absolute pleasure to photograph!

This lady was quite the model! She has signed on to be a "senior rep" for me, and was taking her job pretty seriously. She brought TONS of clothes, and wanted to keep on shooting! Love that! The one thing that her mom wanted was some fun cap and gown shots, so we made sure we got those as well. So, two peeks: one for her and one for mom! I should have the rest done in the next few days!

As much as I love chasing babies and kids around to photograph them, I am finding that I love photographing seniors just as much! Maybe it is because they sit still for photos, maybe it is their excitement to have the photos taken, maybe I am just blessed with great clients. Who knows?!

This client was beautiful and excited to be graduating in a month. We had a wonderful session with a little suprise location "within" the location, which was great fun. And at this suprise location, we were able to capture one of my favorite shots of her in her prom dress.

Birthday boy

It was this sweet boy's first birthday! This was the second time that I got to photograph him. Such a sweetheart! And oh, how we tortured him. We stuck him in trees (parents right next to him, but just out of frame of course!), made him eat birthday cake, just plain torture! He didn't LOVE being in the tree, but as if on cue, he looked at me with this sweet face and gave me just enough time to snap one, and then wanted to get back down. That is OK, that was all I needed! This precious little one literally made me *gasp* when she looked up at me with her gorgous blue eyes. I have never seen eyes THAT blue in person (I wish I could make the photo larger on here so everyone could see just HOW blue they really are, but mom will see them in her prints!). Top that off with her being a patient little angel, she was a dream to photograph! She let me keep shooting and shooting and shooting. Not too normal for a six month old!

A senior rep is someone who is a junior now (and will be a senior in the fall) who is friendly, outgoing, involved in their school activities/sports AND who wants to earn some free senior pictures! I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet little one twice. Once when he was still in mommy's belly, and now at 2 1/2 weeks old! He wasn't thrilled with me for the most part. Canvas!

I have a new love. CANVAS! I have heard such wonderful things about photographs printed on canvas. I have even seen photos of photographs on canvas. But I hadn't seen one in person. Until now. It is so beautiful and rich, I can't even tell you! I now need to have my own family put on canvas! The canvas that I had printed was from a previous session I had, using one of my favorite shots. I figured it would be a great one to show clients how beautiful photos are on canvas.

Want to see it up close, in person? I will be bringing it with me to my sessions! So, if you aren't already on the books, GET on the books! For now, you will have to just settle for a photo of it.

This was my second time photographing this sweet little angel. I tell you, she is as happy and pleasant as they come! Mom wanted lots of "baby parts" shots for a collage, but afterwords, we had some fun photographing her in different chairs in the house! This one was one of my favorites.

What we do for our mothers! My mom has been wanting new updated photos of her three girls. Well, now is the perfect time, because my middle sister is in town for a conference. We went to one of my favorite locations to shoot at, and tried to set things up so my mom (or dad in some of them) could snap the shutter for me. Let me tell you, it is TOUGH trying to take a photo while you are IN it! Just a few quick ones from our session.

I had a session with a wonderful couple and their friends. A bunch of mini-sessions, really. They were having a post-Christmas, pre-new year party with their friends, and thought it would be nice to have a photographer there for little sessions for everyone. My new toy!

It is finally here! I have been saving up for a new camera. The other one has served me well, but it was time to upgrade. I was seriously stalking the UPS man waiting for it. It was torture!

Isn't it gorgeous?! LOL!

Well, I asked the boys to let me break it in on them. I promised a movie afterwards, so they were on board. I know there will be a little curve while I break it in, so I wanted to work on it before I use it on a "real" session.

You know, I have more trouble photographing MY boys than any other kids or babies. It is so fustrating! Photographerkid syndrome, I think. But, at the very end, they loosened up for me, and I got a few shots. Here are a few, straight from the camera. No editing, just sizing/sharpen for web.

I still have more learning/practicing to do on it. Off to think of tomorrow's bribe! LOL!

Grown-ups!

This session was a little different for me. I am used to chasing kids around with my camera, but for this session, it was grown-up kids! I was asked to photograph adult siblings with their mom. I gotta say, it WAS nice having stationary subjects for once! I did have some fun with this session, and I *think* they did too. But, I did find out that siblings act the same way when they are kids AND grown-ups! LOL!

This post is directed to my past clients. I wanted to thank you all for helping me get my business off of the ground. As you may, or may not have noticed, the "portfolio building" special sessions have long gone, and the pricing on my site was updated to show that probably a month and a half ago.

As a THANK YOU to you, I would like to offer you my first special of the new year! If you book a new session anytime in January, February, or March, your sitting fee will be the same old portfolio building rate. My sister, the "cinematic genius"

I have been so bad. My sister had her "directorial debut", and asked me to come over and photograph her "cinematic genius". She really looked good, and professional. Hard to believe it was her first short! I was in the midst of my very busy holiday season, so her proofs got put on the back burner. I remembered about them today, and finished them up. She did have to wait, what, 2 months for them? So, if you are reading this 'lil sis, I have them all ready for you now!

New year, new blog!

One of the things that I have been wanting to do for my business, is get a blog going! No better time than a new year, right? I plan on using this blog as a newsletter, of sorts for my photography business. I will be posting sneek peeks from recent sessions, announcing specials, possibly contests? I am not totally sure yet, so make sure you keep checking back in to see what I am up to!

I should probably introduce myself first. Those who would be reading this are probably past clients, current clients, and hopefully future clients. As well as friends and family wanting to keep up with what I am doing. So, for those who don't yet know me yet, my name is Jeannette Searcy. I am a photographer in the Orlando area. I am a wife to a wonderful fireman, and a mom to two beautiful boys. I graduated from FSU (go Noles) with a degree in child development. I always knew that I wanted to work with children, I just didn't know how!

I am often asked the question, "how long have you been doing this (photography)?" Seems like such an easy question, but it really doesn't have an easy answer. I have been taking photographs since I was a kid. I was the high school yearbook photographer in school (MANY years ago!). And after I had my first baby, my interest became much greater. I took some photography courses, and got a film SLR (single lens reflex) camera. I have since moved onto digital SLR cameras. And just a year or so ago, I decided to build up my portfolio. My boys were so happy that I was taking photos of other kids, so they could get a break from me! And then, a few months ago, I decided to make the leap into a photography business. (See, I told you it wasn't a quick answer!).

I have been so blessed to have such wonderful first clients with such gorgeous children! And I feel that I am really doing what I was MEANT to do now. I have so much fun photographing kids. And I really love being able to give parent's photographs of their children, just the way they REALLY are. It almost feels like it isn't work at all! THIS is what I have been looking for!

And before I sign off, I thought I would share a favorite picture of me and my boys. This was taken last mother's day by my mom. As you can imagine, I don't get on the other side of the camera all that often!
